Singer John Németh can add another award to his growing list of achievements. He was announced as the winner of the 2010 Living Blues Award for "Most Outstanding Blues Singer." Németh was selected in a vote by the readers of Living Blues magazine, the highly-respected, and oldest, publication in the world dedicated to the genre.

Blind Pig Records has released two of John's songs on an actual, vinyl 45rpm record. The analog recordings from this limited edition pressing feature jukebox mixes of two outstanding tunes from John's forthcoming CD release, "Name The Day!," which will hit the street on May 18, 2010. The Németh 45 is currently available for purchase online.

Ten months after its debut, "Love Me Tonight" makes a second appearance on the Billboard Blues Charts! John's second release on Blind Pig Records ranked #7 ahead of Robert Cray and Derek Trucks for the week ending 10/18/09, and stayed at #7 for the week ending 11/1/09. Last night, John received two "Blues Blast Awards" from Illinois Blues--the only nominee to receive multiple awards. John's "Magic Touch" album won Best New Artist Debut Recording. John also received the Sean Costello Rising Star Award. Many thanks to all of you who voted!

Elvin Bishop "All-Star" Album

Elvin Bishop, the founding member of the Paul Butterfield Blues Band, has completed work on "The Blues Rolls On," due out September 23. The album harks back to Bishop's roots, paying tribute to the musicians who helped give him his start. In addition to John Nemeth, a who's who of Blues musicians support Bishop on the album, including B.B. King, Warren Haynes, Derek Trucks, George Thorogood, James Cotton, Kim Wilson, Tommy Castro, Ronnie Baker Brooks and Angela Strehli. Bishop handles the majority of the vocals, with Nemeth and others pitching in as well.

This week, The Blues Foundation announced nominees for the 2008 Blues Music Awards. John was nominated in the category of Best New Artist Debut for "Magic Touch," his first release on Blind Pig Records. The event will be held on May 8, 2008 in the Mississippi Delta.
